Course Overview
Skin Cancer Symposiums online surgical course is designed for medical practitioners who want to do in-clinic surgical procedures under local anaesthetic. Each topic is divided into easily digestible lessons which include a mixture of written material, schematics, photographs, videos and podcasts.
Learning Objectives
- Explain how to set up a skin cancer clinic.
- Learn how to do a perfect elliptical excision.
- Identify appropriate Pre and post op advice to patients and patient handouts.
- Develop a strong understanding of how to manage intraoperative bleeding and how to avoid postoperative bleeding.
- Learn local anaesthetic tips and tricks and maximum quantities.
- Develop a strong knowledge base on the theory and steps required to perform flaps (including V-Y, A-T, rotation, advancement, ear lobe advancement, Keystone and Antia-Buch procedures, plus others) and full-thickness skin grafts.
To solidify your learnings it is recommended that you then do the practical 2-day course. This will allow to get hands on experience and is a great time to ask questions or get clarification on any issues that may have arisen whilst you are doing the online course.

CPD Hours - ~80 hours are required to fulfil all aspects of this CPD activity (pre reading, course content, examinations and reflection).
Fully online course - At the end of the course, there is one comprehensive exam. The exam is open book, and can be sat many times to achieve at least a 70% pass, which is the requirement for certification.
