Certificate of Fundamental Dermatoscopy 2024 at the Manchester Metropolitan University - Manchester, UK
29th August 2024
Introduction
It is our pleasure at Skin Cancer Symposiums to bring you Professor Cliff Rosendahl from the University of Queensland, Australia and Professor Amanda Oakley from the University of Auckland, New Zealand.
As doctors, we are often the first and sometimes the only ones to see our patient’s skin. But we have little training and hence most of us, little confidence in confidently diagnosing skin lesions. How can we improve our confidence? The best way, without a doubt, is with training in dermatoscopy which will help you recognise skin cancers earlier and with greater precision.
Traditional dermatoscopy courses have been complicated and difficult to follow due to the teaching of numerous complex algorithms at the same time. Skin Cancer Symposiums has created a simplified approach using what is increasingly recognised as the two most user-friendly algorithms (one for pigmented lesions and one for non-pigmented lesions) to deliver a unique world-class teaching event. Professor Cliff Rosendahl, the co-author of 'Chaos and Clues' and 'Pigment without Prediction', breaks down dermatoscopy teaching into simple, easy to follow algorithms.
They will cover the basics of the various dermatoscopic instruments, the language used, the fundamental dermatoscopic features of common benign lesions and the use of ‘Chaos and Clues’. ‘Chaos and Clues’ provides you with a safe way to decide which pigmented lesions can be left and which require excising (this is achieved without needing to diagnose exactly what the lesion is). The algorithm is presented in a simple and easy to follow way with plenty of examples and repetition.
Professor Amanda Oakley, the founder of the world-famous dermatology resource Dermnet, will expertly guide you through the fundamentals of diagnosing BCCs and SCCs.
You will leave the course with a strong understanding of the fundamentals of dermatoscopy and how it will help you diagnose and manage the lesion in front of you. And what a relief it will be to be able to say to your patient confidently that the black 'mole' they are concerned about is fine!
Our unique courses are highly rated and run in various locations in Australasia, England, Scandinavia, and, from 2025, in the USA and Southern Europe. To date, over 3000 participants (GPs, surgeons, dermatologists, and nurses) have given close to 5/5 reviews.
